Huntingdon Hub

If you are looking for a base to discover Pennsylvania's unique natural wonders, Huntingdon is a great place to start.  Near here, you'll find numerous stands of old growth forest, including the country's oldest hemlocks, the state's largest lake, a boreal bog that is a haven for botanists, caverns, options for birding, and many trails and state parks.

Lewistown Hub

Lewistown provides an excellent hub for visitors who want to experience historic Pennsylvania river towns, with their canal and mill history and current revitalization efforts.  The nearby Lewistown Narrows Canal Park includes a restored lock and locktender's house and a trail along the historic canal tow path.

Newport Hub

Several conservation areas near the Newport hub offer many opportunities for observing wildlife and native plants.  Also, anglers and hunters can learn about the conservation and enhancement of streams, fisheries and forests from local organizations like Pennsylvania Trout Unlimited.
